Lite-On presents a new Biomedical Research and Development Centre in Singapore

It will be the company's first overseas biomedical R&D center with a focus on in-vitro diagnostics.

Singapore, March 2, 2016 - Lite-On Group today announced that it will set up its first overseas biomedical Research & Development centre in Singapore. As a leading company in the opto-electronic components industry, this is the next step in their expansion plans, and Lite-On Medical targets to put in an accumulated investment of SGD 40 million by 2018.

With its headquarters in Taiwan, Lite-On has been serving customers from the Communication, Computer, Consumer Electronics, LED Lighting, Cloud Computing and Automotive industries, and expanded its business scope to medical devices by developing innovative In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) products under the brand skyla?. Launched in 2011, it has been highly successful world-wide since then.

The new R&D center aims to leverage on Singapore's clinical strengths and talented medical research professionals and Lite-On's extensive expertise in system design and manufacturing innovative point-of-care (POC) medical devices to fulfil unmet market needs in emergency care, telemedicine and decentralized healthcare service. In addition, the biomedical R&D centre plans to hire 40 highly-skilled staff in 2016.

With this new launch of the R&D centre, Lite-On wants to provide its innovative product designs and manufacturing ability to the Singapore healthcare industry, to help it gain a highly competitive advantage with their range of technical entry barrier products.
