Meribank collaborates with National Chiao-Tong University with a NT$10 billion cell decoding deal

National Chiao-Tong University and Meribank signed the biotech industry-university cooperation program today. Under the leadership of Dr. Zhong Yuzhi, NCTU's Biotechnology dean, the Meribank's Research & Development team and NCTU's Institute of Biotechnology first wave of project collaboration will be run by Dr. Huang Yaoqi and Dr. Yang Jinmu. The first stem cell binding function of bioinformatics and big data analysis will jointly be used to decode the mesenchymal stem cells of the human placenta repair and protect damaged nerve mechanism of action and the development and application of stem cells in the precise medical and personal care.

Meribank foresee that with the expenditure of NT$10 billion and the span of 5 years, the target of cell decoding will be achieved. In recent years, with the rise of the emerging field of regenerative medicine and medical technology, the global biotechnology industry has invested in the development of stem cell function and applications. The global attitude towards stem cells for medical applications have gradually shifted to more liberal mindset, except for actual investments on stem cell research In addition, medical and health authorities around the world are also actively engaged in the development of relevant laws and regulations to cope with the demand for stem cells of drug development.

Meribank's goal is to create a healthy future for all mankind, increasing efforts to develop a full range of stem cell therapy drugs and to strive to develop stem cells for medical applications.

Meribank's R & D team used Parkinson's disease and hypoxic nerve cell model to find amongst the human placenta mesenchymal stem cells on the repair and protection of damaged nerve function - to better understand human placental mesenchymal stem cells and nerve injury and influence. Meribank R & D team further collected human microarray image data between placental mesenchymal stem cells, combined with bioinformatics and big data analysis in an attempt to unravel the mechanism of repair damaged nerves and key molecules.

Meribank's (R&D) team and Life Science National Chiao Tung University first wave of cooperation program run by Professor Jin-mu Yang, associate professor and his co-leader Dr. Yao-qi Huang. Dr. Jin-mu Yang specializes in systems biology and drug design. He pioneered the world's first family of molecular interactions and applied the concept of protein-protein interaction network analysis. Dr. Yao-qi Huang specializes in neuro spasm by the projected mechanism of action. He also successfully established a high-throughput and automated neuromorphic microscopic image analysis platform.

The cooperation project resources and effective integration of industry professionals, to provide a stable quality mesenchymal stem cells as research material declared by Meribank binds the two sides of the biological information platform and systematically applied to a large data analysis is expected to collect in a short time. The procession and archive large data analysis of stem cells to find out the stem cells to repair damaged nerves and use key molecular mechanism to resolve it.
